Privacy Policy
HopDrop is built privacy-conscious: no ads, no third-party advertising trackers, and we never sell your data. To back up and sync your shopping, you sign in with an account, and your lists are stored securely in our backend. This page explains what we store and why.
What stays on your device
Your pantry, saved list templates and app preferences are stored locally on your iPhone. Your pantry stays on your device until you join or create a household; templates and preferences aren’t uploaded to our servers.
What we store in our backend
Because HopDrop uses an account, your lists and the items on them are stored in our backend (Supabase) once you sign in — this is what lets them back up, sync across your devices, and be shared with people you invite. When you join or create a household, your shared pantry is stored there too so household members can see it. We store the minimum needed to make these features work.
Account & sign-in
HopDrop requires an account. You can sign in with Apple or Google. We receive a basic identifier and, where you allow it, your name and email so household members can recognize you. We never receive your password.
Location
Location features are opt-in. If you enable nearby-shop reminders, your device sets up geofences around the shops you choose and notifies you locally when you’re near one with an active list. Your precise location is used on-device for these reminders and is not sold or shared.
Recipe suggestions
When you ask for recipe ideas, a list of your pantry item names is sent to our AI provider to generate suggestions. This is used only to produce recipes for you and isn’t used to advertise to you.
What we don’t do
- No advertising networks.
- No selling or renting your personal data.
- No third-party analytics that profile you across apps.
Your choices
You can leave a household, stop sharing a list, disable location features, or delete your account at any time. Deleting your account removes the data associated with it from our backend. To request deletion or ask a question, email yashabazovner@gmail.com.
